Slam Battle

The 2021 edition of the Slam Battle was created to show that, even in the virtual environment, marginal poetry is still alive and transforming the lives of thousands of people across the country.

The battles of the 2021 competition were held live, at 8pm, directly from our Youtube channel. The poets' collectives that took part in the Slam Battle were: Slam do Bronx (April 5), Slam do Treze (April 8), Slam da Norte (April 10), Slam das Minas (April 12) and Slam da Guilhermina (April 15). The final was held on April 17 at 2pm.

Featuring a presentation by actress and poet Jô Freitas, and an incredible jury made up of artists, editors and other influencers, the Slam Battle also offered cash prizes to the winning poets.

After each battle, a po em by a poet from each of the collectives (with the exception of the one who won by jury vote) was available for 24 hours on our YouTube channel. The poet who got the most likes during this period won the right to play-off in the competition.

Bronx Slam

Slam do Bronx was created in January 2019 with the aim of bringing another Slam to the South Zone of São Paulo. It was a poetry slam that took place every last Saturday of the month at the Brooklin station on the Lilac Line of the subway. After the arrival of the pandemic, the Slam continues its activities through social networks.

The Slam is a reference because it is the second Poetry Slam in Brazil, as well as being the first in the world to be held on the street.

In 2015, Guilhermina's Slam founded the São Paulo Inter-School Slam, an event that encourages young people to play a leading role in elementary and high schools in the capital of São Paulo, the countryside and the Rio de Janeiro lowlands. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, all the activities devised by Guilhermina's Slam have been held virtually.
